When you listen to The Showdown’s new record Temptation Come My Way, you can hear the 80s inspiration jumping and head banging from the speakers. David Bunton, the lead singer of The Showdown, described the new CD’s sound as, “extremely heavy and fun.”
Originally a pop/punk band named 2540; Showdown has evolved into a heavy-metal band reminiscent of classic 80s rock. The music is definitely different from previous CDs, and the band is proud of that. David described the new CD as mid-paced heavy metal with a rock structure. |

“We just wanted to do something else, something fun and we would listen to,” David. said. |

Showdown knew that revamping their sound was a risk, but it didn’t faze the Tennessee rockers. When they started playing music they weren’t even trying to be in a band because being successful musicians seemed out of reach. In college the band played together, but they were also “doing their own thing,” according to David.
David said that the more the band played, the more they realized the hard work involved and being a professional band seemed even further out of reach. However, when they finished college they just went for it. |

Since then, “We’ve done everything we set out to do,” David said. For most bands, changing the musical direction is a calculated but scary risk. But David said that The Showdown is never scared of anything.

| Their fearlessness shows in the high-energy stage show. Live, Showdown brings incomparable energy and their signature 80s style to the stage.

| “We try to have as much fun as we can,” David said. On stage, the band jokes and head bangs. David said they have more hair, more flying guitars and more loud obnoxious drum sounds than any other band around. |

David promises Ichthus attendees an incredible show. “We will go all out at the Ichthus festival. I promise,” he said.
Even before forming The Showdown, the members attended Ichthus as fans. Ichthus was also their first festival experience as a band. “Ichthus is kind of a special thing for us because that was when we first started,” David said.
The down to earth country boys enjoy having fun at shows, but never at the expensive of the music. “We’re very serious about music, but we have a really good time,” David said. |

Haggard does quite a bit of random stuff--Girl Scouts, tumbling,
writing, photography, caving, smiling, reading books (especially fantasy),
swooning over Clark Gable, etc. She grew up in Corbin Kentucky--famed
for the first KFC and the world's only moonbow. Exciting place isn't
it? This summer will be her 8th year attending Ichthus. |
