People get ready. The Impressions are coming to town. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers “The Impressions” are an American music group known for their social conscience. Active since 1958, their repertoire includes doo-wop, gospel, soul, and R&B. Still performing today with Reggie Torian, Fred Cash, and Sam Gooden (who has remained in the group throughout its entire existence,) The Impressions are best known for their 1960s string of hits, many of which were heavily influenced by gospel music. "Gypsy Woman" and "It's All Right" were followed by former member Curtis Mayfield’s compositions, "Keep on Pushing,” “Amen” and “People Get Ready,” which served as inspirational anthems for the Civil Rights Movement. |
